2,974 times legendary Stephen Curry: New owner of NBA three-point record

The NBA world is celebrating as Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry became the all-time three-point leader by hitting his second three-pointer of the game and the 2,974th of his career with 7:28 to play in the first quarter of the game between his team and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

The record fell in the first quarter
Steph Curry Shirt took just three attempts to break the mark previously held by Hall of Famer Ray Allen, who held the record since the 2011 season when he played for the Boston Celtics.
The “Chef” hit an attempt from the right side of Golden State’s offense with Alec Burks’ mark, making the entire Manhattan arena explode with jubilation and raising their hands in excitement.

Allen, along with Reggie Miller, were on hand at Madison Square Garden to congratulate Curry after hitting the milestone. Miller is third on the all-time three-pointers list and was the one who handed the mark to Allen in 2011.

“Steph appeals to everyone, not just hardcore fans who look at his 3-point percentage,” Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr said before the game. “I think fans are attracted to him just because of his humility and his story and how hard he’s had to work, so from that standpoint it transcends sports somewhat.”
The 33-year-old 3 point king shirt is in his 13th NBA season, all of them with the Golden State Warriors, who selected him seventh overall out of Davidson in the 2009 NBA Draft.
With the Warriors, Stephen Curry has won three NBA championships and has twice been named regular season MVP.
