Minecraft Fan’s Surprisingly Catchy Song Uses Only In-Game Sounds

A Minecraft player recently created a catchy song using in-game audio from a sandbox adventure. Of course, this isn’t the first time a creative fan has taken the magic of the song to Mojang Studios’ ever-popular title. For example, the “Still Alive” tune from Portal was included in Minecraft last year, although it sadly lacks the gentle, mechanical trimming of GLaDOS.

Since its release over a decade ago, Minecraft has played host to many fan-made creations. Players on all platforms have their time dedicated to building everything from real-world structures and vast cities to elaborate statues and crafting systems. Frequently, some users go viral after meticulously drawing user-generated mini-games, some of which occasionally join the Minecraft Marketplace. Seablock constitutes such a small adventure, serving as a desert island survival experience. The battle royale-inspired Winter Bed Wars marks another user-generated Minecraft Marketplace creation aimed at impressing Minecraft loyalists. However, sometimes it is the seemingly simple works of art that prove the most alluring.
Recently, Reddit user KaelonDrae shared a clip of their new musical creation, a beat created entirely from in-game Minecraft sounds in FL Studio. It’s also a surprisingly catchy song, with arrangements seemingly reminiscent of Jay-Z’s “Dirt Off Your Shoulder,” a track from the rapper’s 2003 album The Black. Interestingly, KaelonDrae even included animal sounds such as a cat meowing in the second half of the video, which perfectly matches the rest of the beat. A closer look at the text description in the video shows that the creator used everything from the sounds of Minecraft villagers and the sound of wood breaking to footsteps and chickens. Needless to say, it’s an impressive feat, one that has some in the Reddit thread joking, or perhaps not joking, asking for the track’s extended release on music streaming platforms. .

Fan-made creations aside, Minecraft has enjoyed a ton of incredible content releases over the last year or so. In 2021, developer Mojang Studios released Caves and Cliffs, a two-part update that dramatically changed the structure of the sandbox experience. For example, Caves and Cliffs Part 1 introduced new plants, creatures, and blocks. When Caves and Cliffs Part 2 came out in November, the title received eight more biomes, the addition of long-established candles and terrain expansion that increased the size of the mountains and built Build a cave system in the game.
