Pokemon Go January 2022 events: Raids, Research Breakthrough and more

Here’s what’s happening in Pokemon Go this month.

The year 2022 has begun and Pokemon Go is welcoming the new year with a series of events and activities. Over the next few weeks, the Pokemon mobile game will host new Legendary Pokemon raids, January Community Day and several other in-game events, as well as a new weekly Spotlight Hour. Here’s everything going on in Pokemon Go January 2022.

January research breakthrough: Onix

New Field Research quests and rewards will be available in Pokemon Go starting January 1, as well as a new Field Research encounter. Every time you achieve a Research Breakthrough in January, you’ll have a chance to catch Pokemon Onix with a stone. On top of that, you’ll be able to earn Steelix Mega Energy by completing Timed Research quests.

Research Breakthroughs are tied to stamps you get from Field Research quests. You will earn one stamp for the first task you complete each day, and you must collect a total of seven stamps to achieve the Research Breakthrough. Any stamps you earned in the last month will continue until you reach the Research Breakthrough.
